もう時効だから書いてしまうけど。

ATOKの異常な変換能力は、そのアルゴリズムもさることながら、膨大な辞書と付随する語彙情報があっての賜物である。
僕が勤務していた時には、辞書作成のためだけの部署があり、日本語の書籍や雑誌が大量に収集され辞書が編纂されていた。辞書チームのフロアに行くと、本棚に法律用語辞典や医学用語辞典と一緒に「ちゃお」とか「花とゆめ」とかが並んでいた。一太郎とかの開発チームは何割か派遣社員がいたが、辞書チームには派遣は一人もいなかった。力の掛け方が半端じゃなかった。

それに対し、コストの都合か何か分からないけど、中国丸投げしちゃうようなMSが勝てる訳がない。

MSに限らず、アメリカ企業は中国語と日本語の違いを理解していない。同じ漢字を使っているということで、一緒だとおもってる。だから中国に投げるのは別におかしいと気付かない。日本人が欧米といって一緒くたにしているのと同じこと。
